Job Description:

Microchip is seeking a highly experienced Technical Staff Applications Engineer to drive customer success through advanced technical engagement. This role is hands-on and customer-centric, requiring deep expertise in wireless technologies and embedded systems to help clients accelerate their product development. You will work closely with customers to build Proofs-of-Concept (PoC), assist in design bring-up, and provide technical guidance throughout their product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Enablement & Technical Leadership

    • Serve as the primary technical advisor for strategic customers, guiding them through product evaluation, PoC development, and design integration.

    • Provide hands-on support for hardware/software bring-up, debugging, and optimization of customer designs using Microchip wireless solutions.

    • Conduct technical workshops, training sessions, and create tailored collateral to ensure successful customer adoption.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with product marketing, silicon design, and software teams to align customer feedback with product roadmaps.

    • Influence new product development by representing customer needs and market trends.

  • Technical Evangelism

    • Develop and deliver high-impact demos, reference designs, and application notes showcasing Microchip's wireless technologies.

    • Represent Microchip at tradeshows, industry events, and customer forums as a technical thought leader.

  • Mentorship

    • Provide guidance and technical mentorship to junior engineers within the applications team.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Science (BSCS); Master's preferred.
    • 12+ years of experience in embedded systems and wireless technologies, with proven expertise in customer-facing technical roles.
  • Technical Expertise

    • Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming and real-time systems.
    • Hands-on experience with wireless protocols: Wi-Fi, BLE, IEEE 802.15.4; exposure to UWB, Matter, Thread is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Zephyr RTOS, MCU-based firmware development, and hardware/software bring-up.
    • Knowledge of project management tools (Jira, Confluence) and source control systems (Git, Bitbucket).
    • Exposure to MPU/Linux environments is advantageous.
  • Customer Engagement Skills

    • Demonstrate success in client-facing roles, delivering technical solutions and training to diverse audiences.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with global teams and customers.
  • Other Requirements

    • Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer engagements and industry events.
