JOB SUMMARY

Duke Health seeks a senior HR executive to serve as Director, HR Business Partner - Clinician Experience, providing enterprise-level leadership for physician and Advanced Practice Provider populations across a complex academic medical environment.

This role functions as the system authority for clinician HR governance, policy interpretation, and escalation management across Duke University Health System and Duke Health Integrated Practice. The Director will partner closely with executive clinical, academic, and operational leaders to ensure alignment across dual employment structures, compensation practices, leave administration, and professional conduct standards.

The successful candidate will bring deep experience operating within large, highly matrixed organizations and demonstrate the ability to influence without authority, navigate ambiguity, and lead through complexity.

Key Leadership Expectations



  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex clinician employee relations and professional conduct matters
  • Provide governance and oversight for clinician HR policies spanning multiple legal entities
  • Partner with executive leadership on workforce risk mitigation, clinician engagement, and enterprise consistency
  • Lead and develop senior HR Business Partners supporting physician and APP populations


JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS



  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred (Human Resources, Business, or Health Administration).
  • Prior experience working with dual employment/faculty structures preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience in an academic medical center or large health system
  • Demonstrated expertise supporting physician and APP populations
  • Experience with dual employment, faculty appointments, and academic compensation models strongly preferred
  • Recognized for sound judgment, discretion, and executive presence
