The
UNC Applied Biomechanics Laboratory (http://abl.bme.unc.edu) will provide the facilities, resources, and equipment needed to support the successful applicant's research agenda. The
UNC Applied Biomechanics Laboratory is a 1240 square foot state-of-the-art facility designed to support all areas of human movement biomechanics and includes capabilities for 3D motion capture, surface and indwelling
EMG, indirect calorimetry, overground and treadmill force ergometry, isokinetic dynamometry, biplane videoradiography, in vivo ultrasound imaging, wearable sensing, and blood biomarker evaluations. |
| Position Summary |
The Lampe Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor in the fields of Human Movement Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Engineering to conduct research supported by the resources and infrastructure of the
UNC Applied Biomechanics Laboratory. Proposed research agendas should be consistent with the laboratory's core mission: "to engineer solutions to help people age gracefully." Successful applicants will have demonstrated the clear potential to establish a competitive independent research program and must have an interest in developing collaborations with both basic science researchers and clinical investigators. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Qualified candidates should have a doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomechanics, Human Movement Science, or related areas, and have demonstrated excellent capability for independent scholarly activity. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Evidence of excellence in mentorship and/or advising of students/trainees at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Leadership skills that lead to development of a strong multidisciplinary research program in applied biomechanics and rehabilitation engineering. |
