The American Red Cross has a full-time Supervisor in Volunteer Engagement position available. This is a remote based position but staff must work in the Eastern and/or Central Time Zones and will be covering regional areas of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. In this role, you will supervise the region's staff and associated operations including management of retention, training and scheduling programs and systems to meet operational needs. Implements effective, cost efficient methods to engage sufficient numbers of regulated and non-regulated volunteers to meet needs within assigned region. Coordinates and implements volunteer training requirements. May serve as a liaison to Humanitarian Services, National Headquarters and other external organizations related to volunteers. Where Your Career is a Force for Good Responsibilities 1. Responsible for the supervision of day-to-day operations of department including volunteer staff and paid staff including, but not limited to, hiring, training, coaching, evaluating and performance management to ensure a well-qualified team and to enhance operational success. 3. Identify and implement creative strategies and methods to engage a sufficient pool of volunteer staff to maintain efficient operations and ensure goals are met. 4. Coordinate and implement training and communications to ensure ongoing pool of appropriately trained volunteers to comply with organizational directives, the Code of Federal Regulations and other regulatory requirements and operational changes. 5. Oversee implementation of effective recognition programs, social events and communication avenues for volunteers to ensure a stable, ongoing pool of volunteers. 6. Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the department's budget, goals and objectives. Qualifications - Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Experience: Minimum three years relevant work experience. Management Experience: Minimum of one year of supervisory experience of staff or volunteers. Skills and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills, including training and presentation skills is required. Computer knowledge is required. High level of professionalism, discretion and ability to handle confidential matters is required. Ability to work on a team. Knowledge of group dynamics, negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively implement programs is preferred. The salary range for this position is $66,000.00- $68,000.00annually. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
