Chapman and Cutler LLP is seeking to hire a Data Engineer to join the Financial Management Department. This position will play a leadership role in shaping the firm's financial data platform by designing and developing the table structure, and maintaining analytical reports and dashboards using SQL, SSRS and Power BI. This position will act as a business analyst, collaborating with stakeholders to gather business and technical requirements, and recommending best practices for data utilization and visualization. The position requires an in-office presence but includes flexibility for some remote work.

The responsibilities of the Data Engineer will include:

* Designs, develops, and maintains reports and dashboards using SQL, SSRS and Power BI to support the finance team's analytical needs

* Collaborates with finance and business stakeholders to gather and document business and technical requirements for reporting solutions

* Analyzes data sources and recommend optimal approaches for data modeling, report design, and visualization techniques

* Develops and implements processes for routine report delivery, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency

* Acts as a business analyst to translate business needs into technical specifications and reporting solutions

* Provides training and support to end users on report functionality and interpretation

* Continuously evaluates and improves reporting processes, tools, and methodologies to ensures performance if optimized on all platforms

* Ensures data integrity, security, and compliance with firm policies and industry standards

* Stays current with industry trends and best practices in business intelligence and data visualization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance or a related field and five to seven years of experience in business intelligence, report development, or data analysis, preferably in a professional services or law firm environment.

* Proficiency in SSRS and Power BI, including report and dashboard development

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets

* Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

* Extensive knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and SQL

* Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality

* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

* Pride of ownership with client service

* The ability to communicate and discuss complex concepts with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality

* Excellent time management and project management skills, with ability to work independently to meet objectives and deadlines

* Patient and positive attitude when working with clients, third parties and colleagues

* Technical experience with Windows, Mac OS X, and iOS devices (Chapman has a fully Mac workstation environment)

* Committed to following all Firm security protocols and maintaining information security

In accordance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Illinois position is $140,000-$170,000. The benefits overview for this position is available for review at the below link.
