JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Director of Events is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and execution of high-impact events that advance the mission, brand, and strategic priorities of the organization. This role oversees executive leadership and board-related events, industry conferences, virtual and in-person experiences, and webinars while ensuring seamless collaboration across internal departments and external partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive events strategy aligned with organizational goals, brand standards, and healthcare industry best practices.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of Centerstone leadership and board conferences, based on event criteria, which may include but not limited to retreats, meetings, recognition events, and special engagements.
  • Design and oversee large-scale industry conferences, symposiums, and sponsored events, both in-person and virtual.

Operational Management

  • Manage end-to-end event logistics including venue selection, contract negotiation, transportation, lodging, production, and run-of-show development.
  • Establish standardized event processes, timelines, toolkits, and best practices to ensure consistency and operational excellence.

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with external vendors including event production companies, audiovisual providers, venues, catering, and promotional partners.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility, cost control, and strong return on investment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work in close partnership with various departments such as the Executive Office, Board Governance, Marketing, Communications, Institute, Foundation, and Operations teams to ensure alignment on messaging, branding, and experience.
  • Coordinate closely with clinical, compliance, and risk management teams to ensure events adhere to organizational policies.

Brand & Experience Management

  • Ensure all events reflect the organization's values, professionalism, and commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Oversee event branding, content flow, speaker preparation, and audience experience.

Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Track event performance using KPIs such as attendance, engagement, satisfaction, and budget adherence.
  • Develop post-event reports with insights and recommendations for improvement.

  • Ability to lead and manage a team, both direct and indirectly, as it relates to specific events
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, highly regulated environments
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Hospitality, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Years of Experience

Required

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in event planning, preferably within healthcare, nonprofit, or highly regulated environments.
  • Proven experience managing complex, high-profile events for senior executives and boards.
  • Experience with contract negotiation and vendor management in healthcare or nonprofit settings.
  • Ability to work remote
  • Ability for some travel and after-hour availability

Preferred

  • Experience with virtual event platforms and webinar technologies.

Certification/Licensure

Certification such as CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) or equivalent preferred.

Pay Range:

$81,850.00--$122,740.00
