Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Foreman to oversee daily operations in underground construction or mining activities. The Foreman will be responsible for leading a crew, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating equipment and materials, and maintaining productivity and quality standards in challenging underground environments.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of underground crews, including laborers, operators, and technicians.
  • Monitor work for safety, quality, and efficiency in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce safety procedures and conduct daily safety briefings and inspections.
  • Plan and schedule tasks in coordination with site supervisors and project managers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure all underground utilities or mining operations are properly installed, supported, and maintained.
  • Oversee proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Manage material deliveries and inventory underground.
  • Document daily reports including labor, materials, production, and incidents.
  • Train and mentor crew members, promoting a culture of safety and teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with site leadership, inspectors, subcontractors, and engineers.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or trade certification preferred.
  • Minimum [5+] years of experience in underground construction or mining, with at least [2+] years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of underground safety standards (MSHA, OSHA, confined space entry, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical drawings.
  • Experience operating or overseeing the use of underground equipment (excavators, TBMs, trenchers, shoring systems, etc.).
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL may be required depending on project.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, variable weather conditions, and physically demanding environments.


Preferred Experience (Optional):



  • Experience with trenchless technologies (e.g., HDD, microtunneling)
  • Certified in confined space, first aid/CPR, or other relevant training
  • Familiarity with project management software or digital reporting tools
