Job Summary


Leader responsible for the strategic direction and management of supply chain, procurement, logistics and inventory management functions for UCSF Health. Plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective flow of supplies and equipment to all hospitals and ambulatory sites across the health system. Partners with Supply Chain leaders across the UC System.

The Vice President, Supply Chain is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, directing and coordinating activities of the following UCSF Health departments:

  • Supply Chain
  • Procurement Services

As a member of the executive team, the Vice President contributes to the development and implementation of the major strategic direction of UCSF Health.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.

The estimated salary range for this position is $350,000 - $400,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

Supply Chain Management provides several essential services to the UCSF community. We are the UCSF supply chain infrastructure that advances health worldwide and safeguards the University through innovative contracting, purchasing, logistics and payment services

Required Qualifications


  • Ability to establish mission and goals at the macro-level; to lead subordinate management to develop goals in alignment with mission.
  • Expert knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.
  • Expert skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations; skills in conflict management techniques.
  • Ability to establish metrics for department and employee goals which measure effectiveness of contributions to efficient operations of department.
  • Highly sophisticated skills in strategy development, systems planning and change management.
  • Expert project management skills, including capital projects.
  • Expert leadership abilities to establish department goals, and to motivate and influence others to achieve.
  • Expert ability to establish and utilize metrics to drive excellence, support operations and facilitate integration.
  • Collaborative Leadership: In a highly complex and matrixed organizational environment, skills to build collaborative relationships, develop strategies and engage in constructive problem-solving.
  • Relationship Building: skills to build outstanding relationships at all levels of the organization in an environment that is managed through influence and relationships.
  • Expert knowledge of health care delivery models, business and strategic planning, financial management and organizational development.
  • Expert knowledge in supply chain management, including: procurement, logistics and inventory management.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree preferred.
