National Grid is hiring a Program Manager in New York Emergency Planning - Exercise & Training. This role can sit in any of our New York office locations.

Job Purpose

The New York Emergency Planning Lead Program Manager in Exercise and Training will work collaboratively across the New York Electric and Gas business units to prepare the New York workforce to plan for and respond to operational disruptions within the framework of New York's Electric and Gas Emergency Response Plans, Company Policy, National & Regional protocols, and legal and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare the New York Electric and Gas workforce to plan for, and respond to, operational disruptions within the framework of the jurisdictional Electric and Gas Emergency Response Plans, Company Policy, and National & Regional protocols.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct New York Emergency Planning Exercises, Drills, Training, and Workshops that are focused on New York Response Plan compliance associated with electric and or gas outages caused by storms and other natural disasters, civil unrest, major equipment failure, or other emergency events.
  • Ensure exercises and training programs meet compliance requirements for all Federal, State, County, and Local legal and regulatory requirements
  • The target audience will be the NY-State level and Branch Level Command, General Staff, and Support Functions associated with the New York Electric and Gas Emergency Response Organizations.
  • Incorporate the fundamentals and guiding principles of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) into the operating practices of the New York Emergency Planning Exercise and Training function to establish a consistent and sustainable approach to exercise program management, design, conduct, evaluation, and improvement planning.
  • Utilize a quantitative exercise and training evaluation process that will include regular reporting of programmatic key performance indicators
  • On a case specific basis, work collaboratively with the cross jurisdictional exercise and training team to coordinate large multi-state, multi-discipline exercises as required.
Qualifications
  • Required - bachelor's degree or certificate in emergency management or teaching / training credentials or 3+ years of equivalent utility experience
  • 3+ years of experience working for or with an electric and gas utility required
  • 2+ years of management and or supervisory experience preferred
  • Familiarity with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) preferred
  • Familiarity with the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) preferred
  • Ability to work beyond normal scheduled business hours as needed and in support of emergency response
  • Ability to travel throughout the upstate and downstate New York National Grid Service Territory with occasional travel requirements outside of New York.

Salary

  • Upstate - $73,000 - $86,000 a year
  • Downstate - $88,000 - $104,000 a year
