Job Title: Japanese Bilingual Regulatory Researcher

Employment Type: Full-time

Location: Torrance, CA

Work Hours: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Position Overview

A specialized consulting firm facilitating the entry of major Japanese healthcare and medical corporations into the US market is looking for a researcher. The ideal candidate is someone who excels at reading complex texts, interpreting intent, and synthesizing information.

While background in science is highly preferred, the non-STEM candidates with deep-dive research and professional writing skills are also considered. This is an opportunity to build a specialized career in International Regulatory Affairs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Legislative Research & Interpretation (Reading & Logic)



  • Conduct extensive qualitative research on US regulations (FDA, EPA, CFR - Code of Federal Regulations) and administrative guidance.
  • Move beyond surface-level translation to interpret the intent and context of regulations, analyzing how they apply to client products (medical devices, pharmaceuticals, etc.).
  • Monitor changes in US government policy and regulatory trends.


2. Strategic Reporting & Professional Writing (Synthesis & Output)



  • Synthesize complex regulatory information into clear, logical, and persuasive business reports in Japanese.
  • Draft strategic roadmaps for market entry, ensuring that language nuances align with Japanese business etiquette and decision-making styles.
  • Assist in drafting responses and applications to government agencies, utilizing precise English terminology.


3. Cross-Cultural Communication & Project Liaison



  • Act as a cultural liaison between US regulatory bodies and Japanese corporate clients.
  • Attend high-level client meetings to facilitate understanding, taking detailed minutes and ensuring that no nuance is lost in communication.
  • Coordinate project timelines and deliverables, ensuring smooth collaboration between international teams.



Qualifications

Required:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher. (Science background preferred; however, candidates with liberal arts/humanities background are also welcome)
  • Bilingual Proficiency: English and Japanese.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


Preferred:



  • Master's or Doctoral degree (experience in thesis writing, qualitative research, and defending arguments is a strong plus).
  • Experience in legal research, translation, publishing, paralegal work, or think-tanks.
  • A strong interest in learning about the medical/healthcare industry (training provided).
