Certification Engineer

The Certification Engineer is responsible for ensuring product designs and manufacturing processes meet all applicable regulatory and certification requirements, including FAA and EASA standards. This role partners closely with Engineering, Program Management, Contracts, Sales, Quality, and customers to support certification activities and ensure products are released in full compliance for their intended use.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and support certification projects from initiation through completion, ensuring schedules and deliverables are met



  • Review engineering drawings and specifications to identify certification and testing requirements



  • Develop test plans, define test specimens, coordinate testing activities, and prepare detailed test reports



  • Prepare and submit FAA certification documentation packages in support of multiple programs



  • Track certification project status, maintaining accurate documentation and timely updates



  • Complete and submit PMA applications to the FAA



  • Prepare flammability test reports in accordance with FAA standards



  • Research and interpret FAA and EASA regulatory requirements as needed



  • Serve as a technical liaison with customers, providing recommendations for certification and test requirements



  • Provide guidance to Engineering on design changes related to certification (e.g., material or component changes)



  • Participate in engineering change review and approval processes



  • Deliver a high level of customer service internally and externally



  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department



  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment



  • Adhere to company policies, Quality objectives, AS9100 standards, and EHS requirements



  • Perform other related duties as assigned




Required Skills:


  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines



  • Strong verbal and written communication skills



  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities



  • High attention to detail and accuracy



  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, repair methods, and fabrication practices



  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications




Experience & Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)



  • 2-5 years of experience in the aerospace industry



  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience with FAA certification activities



  • Working knowledge of FAA and EASA regulations and certification processes



  • Familiarity with CAD tools; AutoCAD / Inventor experience preferred



  • Manufacturing experience is a plus
