What We DoDirects the day-to-day operations of the Underwriting Department in Georgia and Florida. Develops and implements policies and procedures for the department.

What You'll Do:

  • Working with Senior Management, develops underwriting strategies.

  • Assesses and develops underwriting operational plans and works with other Senior Management to ensure that plans are integrated with broader strategies.

  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, and work standards for the Underwriting Department.

  • Develops and applies policies and procedures which comply with regulatory guidelines, rules, and standards.

  • Partners with other departments to align underwriting tactics with industry standards.

  • Create and refine underwriting guidelines to support company requirements.

  • Confers with Senior and Executive Management regarding departmental requirements and solutions; facilitates the resolution of problems and the development of new initiatives to support the business.

  • Has full supervisory responsibility for a staff. Delegates tasks, manages work flow and plans staffing requirements. Responsible for salary administration. Interviews candidates and makes hiring decisions, writes and conducts performance reviews, provides ongoing feedback, and manages disciplinary actions. Coaches and mentors staff; provides development opportunities. Ensures that teams and individuals understand roles and responsibilities via clear communication of goals and objectives. Meets with individual team members on performance measurements, goals and evaluations.

  • Train the underwriting team to ensure integrity of underwriting activities and processes.

What You'll Bring:

  • Demonstrated competency in executing strategic plans

  • Experiences in risk management and assists the underwriters on most complex applications

  • Insurance Legal and Regulatory Environment: Knowledge and understanding of state laws and regulations affecting insurance practices

  • Insurance Finance and Actuarial Concepts: Knowledge of finance, accounting and actuarial concepts and practices as applied to the insurance industry

  • Ability to learn needs of a wide range of employees while driving team performance, monitoring results and appropriately allocating resources

  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of complex projects

  • Experience and knowledge of functional tools and infrastructure

  • Progressive experience in leading employees in multiple locations, and significant experience developing and implementing solutions

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Advanced degree preferred

  • CPCU or other certifications preferred

  • 8+ years progressive management experience

  • 8-10 years of directly related experience

  • Qualified candidates will have solid title underwriting background

  • Demonstrates success establishing, leading and maintaining effective working relationships at the Middle and Senior Management level

Pay Range: $148,600.00 - $198,200.00 Annually This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
