Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Safety Officer to join our shared services team.

This position will be responsible for supporting the corporate safety program in their assigned region. The Northeast Region includes the states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Kentucky. The new Safety Officer will report directly to the corporate Pavion Safety Director.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Manage and teach a variety of safety training programs ranging from in-person to instructor-led virtual classes.
  • Assist with the creation of an annual corporate safety training catalog and calendar allowing employees from all business in the assigned region to register and participate in safety training.
  • Approve and coordinate outside safety vendor training as needed for business units-based in their assigned region.
  • Execute job site safety audits, facility inspections and emergency response drills in coordination with local general managers in business units located in their assigned region.
  • Act as the chairman of the individual Safety Committees found in their region of responsibility.


Basis Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree
  • 3-5 years' experience in occupational safety or related occupation.
  • Experience teaching adults in an organized classroom setting.
  • Ability to successfully complete OSHA 500 or 501 within first year of employment.
  • Ability to successfully complete other safety train-the-trainer courses as needed such as First Aid/CPR/AED, Defensive Driving, Powered Industrial Trucks (forklifts), Fall Protection, etc.
  • Working knowledge of federal OSHA and local state safety regulations.
  • Ability to travel to branch offices within their assigned region.
  • Excellent driving record and current state driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience creating course content and teaching adults in an organized classroom setting.
  • Current OSHA 500 or 501 certification with experience teaching OSHA 10 or 30 (Construction or General Industry)
  • Advanced Safety Certification such as CSP, SMS, ASP, COSS, STS, or STSC.
  • Current trainer certification in First Aid/CPR/AED, NSC Defensive Driving, Powered Industrial Trucks (forklifts), Fall Protection.
  • Working knowledge of local regional state safety regulations.


Primary hours are Monday to Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm with the ability to work a hybrid schedule in the office and remotely. Travel is required for in-person classes and facility inspections. A take home company vehicle is provided for local travel. All other travel expenses are covered by Pavion.
