| Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Division of Student Affairs fosters student growth and development. The Division of Student Affairs aids, directs and informs students about services and programs that will expand students' educational experiences and prepare them for diverse lives in local and global communities. The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for many of the classroom/off campus aspects of student life at
NCCU, including student engagement and leadership; career services; student disability services; student leadership; housing and residential life. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of this position is to provide sound financial management and personnel oversight for student affairs departments that report to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement in accordance with the University mission. Specific job duties include but are not limited to budget management and development, financial reporting, budget and personnel training for staff, establishing collaborative working relationships within the division and across campus, offering support to student interns, processing travel, entering purchase requisitions, reconciling PCard transactions for the departments, and coordinate with administrative staff in the various departments to order supplies as needed as well as work in an organized, efficient, and detailed-oriented manner. Additionally, this position will serve as HR Liaison for the departments which requires completions and submission of various personnel actions forms for processing in a timely manner as well as work closely with University Human Resources to ensure the department operates within the guidelines of the mandated employment policies and procedures. |
| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of Banner Finance or an equivalent system; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of People Admin, knowledge of office and record management; knowledge of apply accounting and budgeting principles and practices; knowledge of budget management; knowledge of reconciling PCard transactions; ability to manage a variety of business functions with varying funding sources and serve as a liaison and resource in the interpretation of and compliance with policies and procedures; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication skills; great interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment. |
| Minimum Education/Experience |
Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or related business area and three years of professional accounting experience, of which at least one is supervisory; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
