Maintenance Mechanic

As a Maintenance Mechanic at PPG's Monroeville Research & Development, you will be a crucial part of our Specialty Synthesis Group (SSG) operations responsible for process development and manufacturing of photochromic dyes, OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) materials and optical coatings, ensuring that a quality product is available to our customers when they need them. Your work will directly affect people's lives!

Responsibilities:

• Assist with routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of mechanical equipment, tools, and facility systems
• Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical issues under the guidance of supervisor
• Support preventive maintenance (PM) activities, including lubrication, adjustments, and component replacement
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment Follow work instructions, maintenance procedures, and safety guidelines at all times
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation
• Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and shutdown/startup activities
• Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas and mechanical spaces
• Escalate abnormal equipment conditions or safety concerns promptly

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent is required
• 0-2 years Mechanical aptitude and high level of safety awareness
• Attention to detail and documentation skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Strong problem solving, initiative, and knowledge of PC applications
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the day
• Must be able to stand, bend, crouch, kneel throughout the day, use basic tools, operate a Forklift or ability to learn new maintenance skills
• Ability to work overtime as needed
