Job Overview:

Data Analytics Specialists are responsible for querying, analyzing, validating, and reporting data. Specialists utilize complex queries and analytics in SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and other languages or platforms to obtain data and develop reports from relational databases, Snowflake, and other non-relational sources. The Data Analytics Specialists learn and evaluate data to determine patterns and trends and then present and explain these findings to both lay and expert stakeholders ad-hoc or in a structured manner such as Tableau or Power BI. They carefully provide accurate and vetted data to multiple business units as well as stakeholders beyond the agency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced standard data queries as well as data aggregations, dashboard preparation and maintenance (Tableau and Power BI); ensure data quality and deliver reports; and ad hoc data requests using data analytic software, reporting software, and analytical programs (SAS, SQL, Python, R, Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Perform descriptive, predictive, and inferential statistical analyses, while providing thorough documentation of projects and processes.
  • Comply with regulations and mandates for data privacy requirements, ensure the data reported is accurate, and complete data request projects in a timely manner.
  • Engage in regular contact with stakeholders such as department representatives or IT staff to provide or gain expertise and guidance.
  • Maintain relations and effective communication with internal and external business users, vendors, and/or stakeholders to explain data reports and analyses.
  • Primary communication centers around clarifying data values or parameters used for the analysis as well as any constraints incurred while doing analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a bachelor's degree in a data analytics, computer science, or a related discipline (i.e., statistics, applied statistics, mathematics, biostatistics, economics, epidemiology, business administration, public administration, public policy, or other related discipline)

OR

An associate's degree and 2 years of relevant professional work experience

OR

A combination of years of relevant college coursework and years of relevant professional work experience totaling 4 years.
