DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for operating a variety of specialized machinery, including excavators, Menzi-Muck, bobcats, Gradalls, graders, backhoes, bulldozers, high-lifts, and front-end loaders with a bucket capacity of three cubic yards or greater. These machines are essential for general construction, maintenance, and grounds work, which encompasses tasks such as snow removal and cindering operations. Additionally, you will drive vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more, including dump trucks and tractor trailers, also utilized in construction and maintenance activities.
When not engaged in equipment operation, you will perform manual labor on assigned projects, contribute to the upkeep of park facilities, and carry out intermediate-level repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment, ensuring that all machinery is clean and serviced. You will conduct safety checks and inspections of equipment before use, maintaining accurate records for all operated machinery, particularly for commercial vehicles exceeding the specified weight. Your duties will also include operating mowing equipment, assisting with carpentry, masonry, and mechanical projects, maintaining the water level in the canal, performing necessary repairs, and removing trees and brush along the canal. In emergency situations, you may be called upon to respond promptly, collaborating with contractors to address leaks in the canal. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate the operation of assigned equipment to fellow employees and undertake any other related tasks as required. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Days/Shifts will vary, will work 5 days/37.5 hrs. per week to include holidays and weekends when needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) that is not under suspension.
