GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION International Gateways provides access to credit and non-credit courses for semester abroad, short-term, and disqualified students through responsive and effective program advising and support for the purpose of immersion and matriculation at SJSU. The Custom Programs Specialist, reporting to the Associate Director of International Gateways, is responsible for the outreach, marketing, development and oversight of all special programs. As custom programs are an important segment for International Gateways, the Specialist, in collaboration with the Associate Director, develops a strategic and operational plan for custom program growth. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Analyzes market demand and identifies opportunities for the development of custom programs aligned with organizational goals. 2. Develops and implements marketing and recruitment strategies for custom programs in collaboration with the Associate Director; represents the organization at recruitment events, both in person and virtually, as appropriate. 3. Designs and oversees the development of marketing materials, including web content, presentations, and social media assets, to support program visibility and recruitment objectives. 4. Serves as the primary point of contact for custom program inquiries; develops proposals and negotiates program agreements in accordance with SISURF and Academic Innovation guidelines. 5. Manages and monitors custom program budgets in collaboration with the Associate Director to ensure alignment with International Gateways' revenue targets and expense controls. 6. Collaborates with faculty and industry partners to plan, develop, and implement program content; leads the development of program schedules, materials, and activities for technical and business-focused programs in alignment with quality standards and strategic objectives. 7. Coordinates with campus and community partners (e.g., housing, catering, transportation, and facilities) to ensure effective program delivery and operational readiness. 8. Provides operational leadership for custom programs, overseeing day-to-day implementation, coordinating stakeholders, and exercising independent judgment to resolve issues affecting partners, faculty, and students. 9. Other duties as assigned. INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS A core component of this position is the establishment of effective working relationships with all campus and community entities, including: * International students * University Partner staff and faculty * Industry experts and vendors for programming * SJSU and International Gateways staff, faculty, student employees SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May oversee and direct student workers and activity volunteers. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience * BA degree in engineering, business or education. MA/MS preferred. * Minimum of 1 year of administrative experience in the management and development of educational programs. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required * Strong intercultural communication competence and adaptability to ongoing change. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a part of a team. * Demonstrated success establishing partnerships and in negotiations with partners. * Ability to provide prompt, accurate, and thoughtful responses to all inquiries. * Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Complexity of Duties * Performs duties under minimal direct supervision of the Associate Director. Physical Requirements * Must be able to sit for extended periods, stand for extended periods, and travel to different areas across the campus. PLEASE NOTE: This position is considered a "sensitive" position by SJSURF and CSU policy. Consequently, the successful candidate must undergo and successfully complete the Live Scan (fingerprinting) background check as a condition of their employment. This background check must be completed before the actual start of employment.
