HOPE 4 Youth is a nonprofit organization firmly rooted in the goal of ending youth homelessness. Our mission is to provide pathways to end youth homelessness. HOPE 4 Youth provides a safe place for youth to access basic needs support, educational and employment programs and opportunities, and transitional housing options. Wages & Benefits

$22 - $24 per hour; Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) policies, plus eight paid holidays and two floating holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance. There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and short- and long-term disability insurance. H4Y sponsors a retirement plan with a 3% employer match and immediate vesting.

Schedule

Typical hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility needed for occasional events or networking outside of regular hours.

The Development Associate supports HOPE 4 Youth's mission by assisting with fundraising, donor and partner engagement, and special events, while working closely with the Associate Director to help sustain and grow the organization's impact.

Responsibilities will include the following:



  • Supporting the preparation and submission of grant proposals and applications, including tracking deadlines and managing funder portals.
  • Maintaining the grants calendar and assisting with required funder reports.
  • Helping maintain accurate records and internal reports in Giveffect and shared systems.
  • Assisting with public funding contracts, proposals, and reporting.
  • Processing in-kind donations and ensuring timely acknowledgements and receipts.
  • Serving as a knowledgeable user of the Giveffect donor and volunteer database, including helping train staff as needed.
  • Tracking fundraising activity and assisting with regular development reports.
  • Supporting the agency development plan to strengthen fundraising and organizational visibility.
  • Assisting with donor-facing activities such as special events, outreach efforts, and mailings.
  • Representing the organization with donors and supporters through professional, friendly communication.
  • Supporting the Leadership Team in stewarding long-standing and new organizational partners.
  • Tracking and helping grow relationships with corporate partners, including employee giving and matching gift opportunities.
  • Assisting in identifying and building relationships with potential corporate donors, as well as civic and faith-based partners.
  • Using the donor database to support community outreach, special events, and ongoing fundraising campaigns.
  • Assisting with event sponsorship cultivation and securing in-kind support for events and campaigns.
  • Managing event-related data in the donor database and tracking key metrics to inform future efforts.
  • Supporting donor recognition efforts, including timely thank-you letters and acknowledgements, and helping improve database workflows and automation.


Who You Are



  • You have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent knowledge gained through alternative education and lived experience.
  • You have experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data in ways that are accurate, thoughtful, and meaningful.
  • You are familiar with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, with Giveffect experience preferred.
  • You bring knowledge of the human services nonprofit sector, with prior nonprofit experience preferred.
  • You have a foundational understanding of fundraising strategies and are eager to continue learning and growing in this area.
  • You communicate clearly and professionally, with strong organizational, technical writing, and relationship-building skills.
  • You think critically, pay close attention to detail, and organize ideas, materials, and workflows effectively.
  • You can explain complex information in clear, accessible ways to a variety of audiences.
  • You manage multiple priorities and deadlines well in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications and can quickly learn new technology and systems.
  • You work well both independently and collaboratively, contributing positively in diverse team environments.
  • You bring a cooperative, solutions-oriented mindset and willingly support coworkers, supervisors, and clients.
  • You value volunteers as an essential part of the organization and are willing to work alongside, support, supervise, and build strong relationships with volunteers as part of HOPE 4 Youth's culture.
  • You are able to attend events and networking opportunities outside regular office hours.
  • You have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet H4Y's driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
