Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking an Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) / Digital Engineer to join our team in the Alexandria, VA area in support of customers in the National Capital Region. In this role, you will research and develop constructive architecture models of complex kill-webs/effects webs to analyze gaps and solutions for systems-of-systems/enterprise architectures. You will research and develop constructive architecture models of systems and systems-of-systems representing customer projects to support analysis and inform AFSIM simulations and transition partner goals. You will produce technical diagrams and other graphical, written, visual, and verbal narrative products to inform stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
As a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) / Digital Engineer with MTSI, you will work as an integral member of a government/contractor team in support of our customer's organization. As a systems engineering team member, you will work on all aspects of systems hardware and software - from conceptual design and analysis to integration and testing. The team constructs, manages, and conducts discrete mission engineering and analysis study tasks to evaluate the efficacy of legacy architectures and new technologies and capabilities applied in new mission concepts of employment to meet evolving Joint mission objectives. This position will be in the Alexandria, Virginia area, with the possibility of local travel to customer sites.
Your essential job functions will include, but may not be limited to:
* Research and develop constructive architecture models of complex kill-webs/effects webs.
* Create constructive architecture models of complex systems/systems-of-systems to support customer programs in various stages of development
* Conduct analysis and assessments of complex kill-webs to determine capability gaps, potential solutions, and assess of technology on the kill-web/effects web performance.
* Participate in concept testing and integration for experimentation assessments. Participate in system requirements reviews and create and/or update requirement specifications and technical documentation.
* Assist in transition and associated reviews of technologies to a program of record.
* Review system engineering documentation to ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate.
* Participate in the development of trade studies to support the selection of preferred design solutions and course of action alternatives in project development/product delivery.
* Providing review and analysis support to the test team development and conduct of formal testing.
* Brief Senior Leaders, and teammates on status and outcomes.
Qualifications:
* Possess strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment; present and explain technical information to colleagues, management, or sponsors.
* Experience with system interface requirements and requirements management.
* Experience integrating processes and/or software development methodologies, planning, designing, and analyzing functional system processes - organizational, hardware, or software-based systems.
* Demonstrated ability to devise solutions for complex problems that require in-depth analysis of tangible and intangible factors.
* Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary project team that may include intel analysts, engineers, scientists, designers, and technicians.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong briefing and presentation skills.
Desired Skills:
* 2+ years of related professional experience.
* 1+ years of experience in mission engineering, systems engineering, or operational analysis in support of defense or military areas.
* 1+ years of experience developing or analyzing operational and mission-level architectures (mission threads), kill chains/kill webs, CONOPs, or system-of-systems (SoS) architectures for defense or military areas.
* 1+ years of experience with mission or system functional decomposition, system-of-systems analysis, or capability gap assessment/analysis.
* 1+ years of experience with model-based engineering approaches, DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), or other architecture modeling standards.
* Understanding of system architecture utilizing tools to describe function using graphical elements, e.g. Cameo/MagicDraw, Innoslate, Sparx Enterprise Architecture, IBM Rational Rhapsody, Visual Scripting Languages, complex Visio diagraming, Gaphor, generic SysML tools, generic UML tools
* Programming or scripting experience with data analysis or presentation tools including Python, MATLAB, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
* Understanding of version control
Education Requirements:
* Associate's degree/2 yrs of post-secondary education
* Bachelor's degree (DESIRED, May be substituted for work experience)
Clearance Requirements:
* Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance with SCI Eligibility.
* U.S. Citizenship is required for this position
