Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or field, or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to obtain a Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is required at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a SECRET clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

From writing new or enhancing existing technical product guides, training lessons and program documentation, as our Electrical Manual Technical Writing Specialist, your talent will be front and center. You'll create, develop, plan, write and edit complex operational, instructional, interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs), maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication, training guides and lessons. We'll depend on you to act as a primary technical editor on client deliverables. You'll implement editorial and document governance standards for quality and style; ensure all assigned deliverables meet these standards.

Overview:
The Tech Writing Specialist is responsible for creating, developing, planning, writing, and editing complex technical
documentation. This involves gathering and translating technical information into user-friendly manuals , lesson materials and webbased documents. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and quality of
technical publications

Key Responsibilities:
* Create, develop, plan, write, and edit complex operational, instructional, interactive electronic technical
manuals (IETMs), maintenance, or test procedures for paper, multimedia, training guides/lessons or web-based publications.

* Conduct interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
* Produce products that conform to company documentation and quality assurance standards.

* Develops course materials and establishes course content per customer requirements.
* Document engineering processes and specifications by editing software developer and engineering staff's
notes and procedures.
* Research and translate technical information into manuals, lessons, guides and/or web-based documents for nontechnical
and technical users.

* Works with various departments to ensure documentation and course material reflects current product features.

* Updates course documentation regularly to ensure relevance and accuracy.
* Ensure the accurate preparation of documents for interim and final delivery to customers by participating in
peer reviews of documentation.

* Performs technical research and collaborates with customers, engineers, and other tech writers to develop
program documentation and training content.
* Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing production methods, and referring
to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
* Proactively inform leadership of assignment status working to resolve issues and/or concerns.
* Determine the scope and timeline of new documentation projects to plan projects.

* Knowledge of XML and S1000D a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Proficient understanding of technical writing principles and practices.
* Proficiency in creating and managing technical documentation, guides, and materials.
* Ability to conduct quality reviews and ensure editorial and format consistency.
* Knowledge in emerging trends and technology in the writing industry.
* Proficient communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work with various stakeholders to meet project deadlines and regulatory requirements.

What you bring to the table:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or field, or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Fully proficient understanding and application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards required of technical publications
  • Ability to relay complex system information that can be understood by general users
  • Excellent editing, written, English and grammar skills

Target salary range: USD $91,496.00/Yr. - USD $99,001.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
