A Day In The Life
The Manager, Compliance will manage compliance related activities for the GSFSGroup and its products, companies and services. The specific responsibilities will be assigned by the Director of Compliance, in consultation with the Vice President, Chief Legal Officer. The duties and responsibilities, may include but are not limited to the management of regulatory compliance at the state and Federal level; state & lender filing activities; legislation and regulation analysis & implementation for GSFSGroup; representing the organization and interfacing with governmental officials, lenders and/or trade associations on issues related to compliance or product development; and researching, analyzing and interpreting regulatory and compliance data for key information and application to our businesses.

As a Mgr,Compliance you will:

  • Lead, motivate, reward and develop direct reports.
  • Manage the flow of all new and/or existing product development activities and state or lender filings to ensure single and multi-state products are developed and processed in a timely manner. Participate in product reviews and make filing recommendations. Develop and monitor standards to ensure accurate and complete submissions - resulting in speed-to-market.
  • Manage the creation of reports on regulatory filings, requirements and other issues. Manage completion of all required data in tracking systems. Oversee communication of status updates with the GSFSGroup Legal department and business areas.
  • Manage the flow of all agent and corporate licensing activities and associated filings to ensure activities and filings are accurate, complete and files in a timely manner.
  • Review, and audit for compliance, regulatory filings prepared by other departments.
  • Coordinate with other department leaders and other associates in interactions with business customers and product managers to fully understand and anticipate their needs, expectations and limitations involving regulatory compliance exposure and/or product development challenges. Identify and communicate potential issues.
  • Actively assist business operating units in their understanding of significant state filings, market regulation and legislative and regulatory developments that impact businesses or company operations. Assist in product development initiatives within legal department and business units. Assists in creating compliant language for product forms.
  • Analyze, develop processes, implement state and federal compliance activities, including but not limited to privacy, data security, cybersecurity, fraud and holding company laws, regulation and guidelines. Draft compliant documents as required.
  • Research, analyze and summarize new laws and regulations to help ensure compliance with statutory requirements. Effectively identify, analyze, summarize and communicate state and federal filings, legislative and regulatory changes to internal stakeholders.
  • Manage interfaces with government officials and lenders concerning applicable compliance filings. Draft or coordinate resolution of objections with legal department leaders.
  • Confer with internal stakeholders on regulatory compliance activities and/or product development.
  • Participate in department projects and perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university plus a minimum of five years related compliance or regulatory experience and/or training in the insurance or F&I industries; or nine plus years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Insurance regulatory experience and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory filings and/or legislative and regulatory analysis in a property and casualty insurance company or an F&I provider preferred.
  • Ability to effectively lead, supervise and develop other associates.
  • Ability to effectively work through and with other associates, inside and outside the legal department, to accomplish goals and initiatives. Strong analytical skills, pays careful attention to detail and has an investigative mindset coupled with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to handle increasing responsibility and complex assignments and render compliance advice to associates and the management team.
  • Ability to digest large, complex volumes of information and summarize and synthesize that large volume of information for dissemination and application to GSFSGroup's business.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with reporting and data analysis.
  • Must have a good understanding of insurance or automobile services industry department processes and be able to articulate the business impact of regulatory changes to all GSFSGroup business areas.
  • Familiarity with and an ability to interpret rules and regulations and lead appropriate compliance actions with legal and business clients.
  • Strong computer skills including the use of computerized legal and regulatory research tools and other software programs to complete projects.
  • Fundamental understanding of requirements of insurance and F&I product laws and regulations, including but not limited to privacy, data security, cybersecurity, fraud and holding company.

Physical and Environmental RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The associate must frequently move up to 10 pounds and occasionally move up to 25 pounds.
