What to Expect

As a software engineer specializing in 3D Digital Experiences, you'll enhance and maintain Tesla Energy websites that house all technical content, while bringing immersive 3D interfaces to life in our product navigator.

You'll develop and optimize advanced 3D web applications using React, Node.js, and Three.js to create highly interactive and visually stunning experiences across Tesla's platforms, including responsive design development to ensure seamless performance on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you'll integrate 3D features seamlessly into Tesla Energy's service software, optimize WebGL performance, and deliver scalable 3D assets. You'll also explore emerging technologies in shaders, physics, and animation to boost realism and efficiency.

Your contributions will directly influence how we present technical content to customers and service technicians, playing a pivotal role in Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain advanced 3D web applications with a focus on PLM integration and viewer enhancements
  • Innovate in areas such as 3D asset delivery, configurator applications, and system maintenance
  • Implement automated solutions for 3D asset handling, optimization, and rendering
  • Contribute to the development of the optimization pipeline, data configuration, and 3D Viewer enhancements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of 3D applications into our core platform
  • Implement new features and help maintain existing features on Tesla's websites

What You'll Bring
  • 3-4 years of experience in web and application development, with a specialization in TypeScript, React, Node.js
  • At least 2 years of experience in 3D web application development
  • Extensive knowledge in Node.js and Three.js, and the use of custom shader libraries such as WebGi
  • Proficiency in canvas image and SVG data manipulation, JavaScript animation practices
  • Familiar with library shaders in WebGi
  • Understanding of the GLTF/GLB formats and pipelines
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL architectures
  • Familiarity with 3D concepts, tools, and software such as 3DS Max, Blender, or Maya
  • Strong expertise in front-end frameworks (Vue, React) and JavaScript front-end frameworks
  • Background in multi-product 3D configurator development is highly desirable

    Expected Compensation
    $120,000 - $210,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
