What to Expect
The position will be based in Sparks, Nevada at Tesla's Gigafactory in the Quality department. The ideal candidate for this position will not only have strong analytical skills (Problem-Solving, "soft" skills), but also demonstrated experience in material review processes and defect disposition ("hard skills"), and product testing. They will work closely with manufacturing, Quality Engineers, and Supplier Quality teams to evaluate non-conforming materials, determine dispositions, and ensure that quality standards are maintained through the Material Review Board process.
What You'll Do
- Participate actively in the Material Review Board (MRB) process to confirm, disposition, and document non-conforming components and products, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with quality standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contain non-conforming parts or products, sort or potentially rework parts for quality requirements, and support corrective action implementation
- Monitor and report on quality issues related to non-conforming materials, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions and countermeasures through the MRB process
- Work with Supply Quality Engineering and suppliers to address material discrepancies and develop specifications that support production requirements
- Analyze and interpret data independently, anticipate potential problems related to material quality, and take preventative actions to support PFMEA activities
What You'll Bring
- Experience within Quality systems in a high-volume Manufacturing environment, with specific exposure to Material Review Board processes (QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred, and GD&T knowledge is helpful)
- Demonstrated expertise in extensive problem-solving, root cause analysis, and disposition of non-conforming materials, with a strong aptitude for electronic test and measurement systems
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams, and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, 5S, TPS, TQM, etc., is highly desired
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Ability to lift and sort parts of up to 30 pounds as needed during MRB activities
- Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills, and familiarity with basic MS Word/Excel is required
- Ability to use technological tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data related to material quality, and operate relevant personal computing hardware and standard software
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
