Job Summary

The CARTA Deans Office is currently seeking a Temporary Account Manager to join their team of professionals.

In collaboration with the CARTA Associate Dean for Strategic Communication & Alliances, coordinates and executes communication strategies, including marketing, media relations, social media, and public relations, for special projects for the College of Communication, Architecture + the Arts (CARTA) Dean's Office to advance its individual goals, while contributing to CARTA's and the University's mission and goals. Collaborates with the CARTA Communication & Marketing Manager on all collateral materials to ensure unified messaging and FIU brand integrity.

Duties include:

  • In collaboration with CARTA Associate Dean for Strategic Communication & Alliances and the CARTA Communication & Marketing Manager, develops and executes communications strategies, including marketing, media relations, and public relations, for special projects for CARTA that advance the unit's individual goals, particularly around fundraising, while contributing to the University's mission and goals.
  • Writes news stories in conformance with university guidelines. Assists with other printed and online materials being prepared on behalf of CARTA Dean's Office, including advertisements and videos.
  • Writes, revises, and copyedits materials prepared on behalf of CARTA Dean's Office in conformance with university.
  • Promotes, through social media and other channels, internal and external news items related to CARTA Office of the Dean, including but not limited to events, student success stories, faculty profiles, program rankings, alumni spotlights, and any other strategic information.
  • Ensures that all social media accounts, amplifies and engages based on pre-established guidelines. Engages with audiences on social media platforms (e.g., responding to comments, answering questions, etc.).
  • Drafts speeches, op-eds, and columns for CARTA Office of the Dean.
  • Oversees promotion of the special projects for the Dean's Office. In collaboration with the CARTA Senior Special Events Manager, Associate Dean for Strategic Communication & Alliances, the CARTA Office of Communication and Marketing, and the Office of Community Relations and Special Events to cover special projects for the Office of the Dean.
  • Reports to and maintains frequent contact with Associate Dean for Strategic Communication & Alliances. Maintains flexibility and sensitivity to establish and maintain necessary rapport with all levels of personnel and external constituencies.
  • Ensures messaging is strategic and branding aligns with CARTA's goals, adhering to the University protocols and CARTA's policies.
  • Handles confidential matters concerning the assigned unit, the untimely disclosure of which would be detrimental.
  • Interprets information/publications administrative rules and policies and recommends new and improved programs to effectively manage information/publications services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.


Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
