Description

The Human Resources Manager plays a key role in keeping Street Smart's people operations running smoothly as the company continues to grow. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys being close to the work-ensuring employees are paid accurately, supported consistently, and treated fairly across a multi-state organization.

You'll be the go-to HR partner for day-to-day operations, working across payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee support. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who takes pride in strong execution, values organization and accuracy, and enjoys helping managers and employees navigate everyday HR needs with confidence.

This is a hybrid role with 3-4 days in our Columbus, MN office.



RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Payroll & HRIS Administration (Paycom)



  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time, including regular wages, commissions/incentives, and reimbursements
  • Maintain employee data in Paycom, ensuring information is accurate and up to date
  • Execute established payroll and HRIS processes and escalate issues as needed
  • Provide basic guidance to employees and managers on Paycom usage and HR processes
  • Support audits, reconciliations, and reporting related to payroll and HRIS data



Recruiting & Onboarding



  • Manage recruiting activities for roles below the Director level, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination
  • Support hiring managers throughout the hiring process and prepare offer materials
  • Coordinate onboarding for new hires, including system setup, policy acknowledgements, and required training completion
  • Ensure completion and ongoing compliance with Form I-9 requirements and employment eligibility verification.



Benefits Administration



  • Administer employee benefit programs in accordance with established policies and vendor guidelines
  • Coordinate and support annual open enrollment activities
  • Process qualifying life events (QLEs) and ensure timely benefit updates
  • Respond to employee questions regarding benefits and escalate complex issues as appropriate
  • Liaise with benefit providers to resolve routine employee inquiries
  • Administer employee leaves of absence (FMLA, state paid leave, and company leaves), ensuring accurate tracking, documentation, and multi-state compliance.



HR Compliance & Administration



  • Maintain required personnel documentation and records in accordance with federal and state regulations
  • Track compliance deadlines and required filings using established calendars and checklists
  • Support compliance reporting and audits as needed
  • Escalate regulatory or compliance concerns to HR leadership



Employee Support, Relations & Performance Management



  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions related to HR policies, pay, benefits, and procedures
  • Partner with managers to support performance management processes, including documentation, performance improvement plans (PIPs), and follow-up tracking.
  • Document employee relations issues and partner with HR leadership on resolution
  • Support consistent application of HR policies across the organization



Safety & Workers' Compensation Support



  • Assist with workers' compensation claims and related documentation
  • Support safety initiatives and Safety Committee administration as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Experience processing payroll and administering an HRIS (Paycom experience preferred)
  • Experience supporting a multi-state workforce



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP)
  • Experience in an operations or field-based environment
  • Exposure to benefits administration and workers' compensation processes

Compensation for this role has a range of $95,000 to $120,000 annually with a 15% target bonus.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS



  • Remains in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a scanner, copy machine and printer.
  • Communicates with others in their area of expertise, both internally and externally. Exchanges accurate information in these situations.
  • Frequently moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasionally, the individual in this position will need to stand, reach, bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include normal vision.
  • The office environment will have normal lighting and climate control tolerances.
  • Additionally, the office setting will have moderate noise exposure, i.e. business offices with computers, printers, and light traffic.
  • Travel conditions may involve being in an aircraft or automobile for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in the business office at a minimum of 40 hours a week.
