Cyber Software Engineer

Peraton is hiring a Cyber Software Engineer, this role will be remote.

This Cyber Software Engineer will assist the program and business to design and emplement systems using cutting edge tools and interfaces, apply access access controls, input validation and secure coding principles to protect customer data. This role will also document system architect and compliance considerations for seurity best practices.

What you'll do:

Implement, test, and operate advanced software security techniques in compliance with technical reference architecture. Performs on-going security testing and code review to improve software security.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues that arise. Provide engineering designs for new software solutions to help mitigate security vulnerabilities.
• Conduct penetration testing exercises using tools like Kali Linux and Nmap.
• Monitor network traffic and analyze behavior.
• Configure firewalls and IDS/IPS to strengthen network defenses.
• Develop a security policy framework covering incident response, data protection and access control.
• Propose strategies to mitigate risk and maintain compliance with security standards.
• Consult team members on secure coding practices.
• Develop a familiarity with new tools and best practices.

What you'll need:

• BS/BA in cybersecurity or related technical degree
• Clearance: must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
• Experience with security operations tools (i.e. wireshardk Nmap)
• Cybersecurity experience or familiarity (SIEM monitoring, log analysis, intrusion detection and prevention)
• Networking experience (such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, routing protocols, firewall configuration)
• Systems experience (Windows server, Linux, active directory)
• Programming experience (such as Python, PowerShell, SQL, HTML/CSS, JavaScript)
