The incumbent will safely oversee the hauling of plant feed to the crusher, monitor conditions of haul roads, and complete pre-shift inspections.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Reporting

  • Complete pre-shift inspections report and submit to Mine Supervisor
  • Fill out diesel usage log and submit to Mine Supervisor

Maintenance

  • Lubricate haul truck
  • Maintain all haul truck fluid levels
  • Maintain haul truck tire pressure
  • Assist maintenance team members as directed

Safety

  • Attend ALL safety meetings
  • Enforce all company, local, state and federal safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain Company and Federal House Keeping Standards

Quality System

  • Implement all elements of the quality manual
  • Maintain the validity of documentation affecting the positions listed above
  • Maintain the validity of all procedures affecting the positions listed above

Training

  • Provide on-the-job training, as assigned
  • To be backed up by other truck drivers and other qualified personnel

Safe Quality Food (SQF)

  • Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with Federal FDA - Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507)
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs
  • Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture
  • Following completion of SQF training, demonstrate understanding of expected safety, SQF performance and Food Safety Culture
  • Complete periodic SQF training(s)
  • Each site location will ensure training is conducted for new employees and continued for existing employees
  • Employees will actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site

Perform other duties as assigned

ATTRIBUTES:

  • LP09.117 Feed Rock Haulage
  • LP09.500 Preventative Maintenance
  • Fulfill all requirements and possess a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
  • Self-motivated and must be able to work independently
  • Intimate working knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to operation of vehicles, specifically heavy trucks requiring a Commercial Driver's License
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of over the road heavy truck operation and safety requirements
  • Must be capable of working any shift, overtime, seven days, or holidays, if needed.
  • Must be capable of working with personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Must have good written and verbal communicate skills
  • Demonstrated skills heavy equipment operation a plus, but minimum as demonstrated for an over the road haul truck
  • History of safe operation of vehicle as demonstrated on driving record
  • Strong record of attendance reliability
  • Safety Oriented with the ability to work well within a team environment
  • Ability to multiple tasks with a strong sense of urgency to meet customer needs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a mining environment.
  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise, and dust
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Ability to consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

PREFFERED EDUCATION:

Technical training or AA degree in technical related field is desired. Valid CDL Class A or Class B license strongly desired.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous heavy equipment, manufacturing, construction, and/or mining experience is highly preferred.

PREFFERED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 - 3 years of experience
