At VHB, we specialize in delivering comprehensive environmental services to an array of clients, including municipalities, transportation agencies, airports, energy firms, private developers, and more. Our offerings encompass intricate technical analyses, both short and long-term planning solutions, as well as strategic environmental permitting strategies. Our objective is to not only meet regulatory standards but also to advance sustainability objectives and comprehend the impacts of our built environment.

We are in search of an adept professional with a proven track record in devising sustainable solutions for large-scale infrastructure endeavors. This role extends beyond project oversight, encompassing the leadership of diverse teams engaged in environmental planning and permitting across a broad spectrum of clients and projects.

Within VHB's expansive environmental realm, our team delivers a spectrum of services ranging from environmental permitting to sustainability and resilience planning. This includes areas such as energy policy, climate action planning, net-zero emissions strategies, climate vulnerability assessments, urban and regional planning, solid waste management, air quality and noise studies, natural resource stewardship, water conservation, historic resource management, and community engagement initiatives. We seek candidates who not only possess a deep understanding of these services but also exhibit a keen interest in contributing to our full range of environmental endeavors.

Responsibilities

Oversee technical reviews associated with natural, human, and cultural resource analyses related to NEPA/MEPA.
  • Coordinate with clients and manage environmental projects including technical subconsultants.
  • Drive business development activities including preparing scopes of work, fee estimates, and schedules.
  • Review environmental studies and work prepared by others.
  • Prepare environmental documentation and presentations.
  • Manage environmental scopes and budgets amongst a diverse range of technical resource groups.
  • Oversee the facilitation of stakeholder meetings, public workshops, and public hearings.
  • A passion for coaching and/or mentoring skills is required.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Qualifications

  • B.S./B.A. in environmental planning, urban planning, environmental science, or a related field. Masters a plus.
  • Strong understanding of NEPA and MEPA as it relates to Transportation/DOT or similar projects.
  • Minimum 8-11 years' experience in environmental consulting or related field required

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position if located in Boston/Watertown, MA is $120,000-140,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
