What is the opportunity? The Director, Practice Management & Teams is a primary driver of FA productivity, FA development, FA teaming, and serves as a high-performing leader whose team is often viewed to be indispensable accountability partners to RBC Wealth Management US's (RBCWM US) most prominent FAs. The Director develops and executes the strategy for the Practice Management & Teams Department and oversees the Practice Management Coaches, Portfolio Efficiency Coaches, and Teaming & Transition Coaches within the department. When necessary, the Director will also lead high-profile coaching engagements. Success is determined by a set of metrics developed by the Director and regularly shared with RBCWM US leadership. Such metrics will be closely aligned with PCG strategic initiatives. Equally as important, is the Director's ability to develop relationships and work closely with field and firm leaders to identify thematic and tactical coaching / FA growth opportunities. What will you do? Strategic Design, Planning and Execution
- Partners with RBC WM-US senior management to develop, implement and drive strategic priorities and services.
- Develops and executes the strategy of the practice management, teaming, and portfolio efficiency teams along with the Director, Wealth Consulting to best support field productivity, practice efficiency, and field compliance and development.
- Directs the overall management of the Practice Management and Portfolio Management Consultants specializing in strategies for FA team development, practice/investment management efficiencies, practice transitions and consulting with individual teams in various stages of their development.
- Provides strategic guidance, thought leadership, problem resolution, sales ideas and best practices to the team and to branches/complexes.
- Uses discernment, experience and coaching skills to proactively identify opportunities for increased effectiveness and efficiency within the target practices and develops strategies and workshops that address areas of greatest need among advisors and teams.
- Provides direction to team members on escalated and complex coaching engagements.
- Directs and leads the team's strategies group in developing the related framework, tools and support needs for the field to ensure effective team partnerships.
- Proactively and continually stays abreast of marketplace trends and issues, gathered through external and internal networks. Actively monitors and reports on the competitive environment and RBC Wealth Management's competitive position.
- Responsible for ensuring all firm and department procedures are adhered to and issues and/or concerns are resolved in a timely, efficient and appropriate manner.
- Actively promotes the profile of the group and RBC WM through internal and external industry events and media.
- Advocates for and represents the team in selected corporate initiatives.
Active Coaching Engagements
- Mediate, facilitate and consult with advisors and teams through a process which focuses on efficiency, growth, communication and leadership.
- This includes, among other things, business planning, segmentation, value proposition, service models, building a brand, personal/team assessments, and effective communication.
- Collaborate with others in the department, field leadership, and Client Strategies Team members to identify and work with target advisors and teams.
- Proactively identify opportunities for increased effectiveness and efficiency within the target practices, engage team members, and provide coaching related to those specific opportunities.
- Direct, lead, facilitate and deliver workshops and programs for our top-tier advisors and teams.
- Identify areas of greatest need among advisors and teams, and develop strategies to address those needs.
- Collaborate with field leadership relative to team business development.
- Ensure activities and engagements are well-documented.
Relationship Management and Recruiting
- Collaborates with, and influences, leaders across functions to promote the department's capabilities. This flow of information of best practices to and from the department will improve communication, idea sharing and consistency in the solutions and experience delivered.

- Ensures the team remains focused on a client-first culture with ethical and professional behavior that will achieve desired client satisfaction levels.
- Communicates and ensures that employees understand the RBC vision, as well as supports and reinforces targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC goals.

What do you need to succeed? Must-have
- Four-year college degree.
- Ten or more years financial services or investment industry experience
- Five-to-seven years' experience in coaching and consulting with financial advisors.
- Ability to lead a team of high-performing individuals.
- Excellent collaboration and influencing skills.
- Strong knowledge of and aptitude in concepts related to practice management, teams, portfolio efficiency and practice transitions
- Formal credentials and study hours related to practice management theory and skills
- Exceptional written and communication skills including proven presentation delivery skills, ability to actively listen and discern meaning underlying both verbal and non-verbal communications, and ability to inspire, persuade and hold others accountable.

The expected salary range for this particular position is $140,000-$230,000 depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs. You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
