About This Role

The HR Data Manager provides leadership and oversight for human resources, data management, and HRIS functionality. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and effective use of HR data across PeopleSoft and auxiliary systems, supports strategic HR initiatives through data-driven solutions, and serves as the primary liaison between Human Resources and Information Technology for HRIS-related enhancements and system improvements. The HR Data Manager leads system optimization efforts, supervises data staff, and supports compliance, reporting, and change management activities across the institution.


About Us

The Division of Human Resources at Kansas State University is made up of approximately 50 staff members. Specific oversight includes ASC-HR, Benefits, Compensation and Organizational Effectiveness, Employee Relations and Engagement, ERP Systems, Resource Center Operations, Talent Acquisition, Talent and Organizational Development, and Time and Leave.


Worksite Description

This position is Hybrid eligible.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and nine years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible experience supporting HRIS, enterprise systems, or data management, preferably in higher education or a complex organizational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with PeopleSoft HR or a comparable HR ERP system.
  • Experience collaborating with IT teams on system enhancements, testing, and upgrades.
  • Supervisory or lead experience or demonstrated ability to guide and mentor staff.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of HR data governance, compliance reporting, and system integrations.
  • Experience developing training materials and leading system-related change management initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate HRIS and data concepts into clear, actionable information for HR partners, IT staff, and campus stakeholders.
