Summary

The carpenter position is a skilled craftsperson in regard to all types of general and detailed carpentry work including but not limited to; fabricating, assembly, and installation of timber and or steel forms, stripping of forms, installation of anchor bolts and other miscellaneous steel embeds, and the installation of rebar. Must possess general knowledge of blueprint layout and the ability to read and understand plans and specifications. Position also requires general knowledge of concrete placement and work as it relates to other carpentry responsibilities for marine construction projects on, over, or under the water. 50% or more travel will be required for this position. Rotations will be worked out as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Assist in the development of Work Element Plans and JSA,s
  • Understands quality control and assists in implementation of the project safety and quality standards.
  • Participates in site safety and planning meetings.
  • Participates in Near Miss reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.
  • Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.


Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years industry experience.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good mathematical skills. Can read rulers and use hand calculators to figure dimensions.
  • Capable or understanding plans and work layouts.
  • Capable and skilled with working with standard carpentry tools such as(nut not limited to); skill saws, chainsaws, jig saws, sledge hammers, nails, wire cutters, torches, metal saws, drills, and general hand tools.
  • Must be able to pass a military background check (DBIDS)

Work will be preformed on site in Jacksonville, FL.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This role is performed primarily in the field and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, loud noise, and active construction or industrial environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, to grasp, grip, handle, or feel. The employee must be able to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hats, goggles, work boots, safety vests, life vests) as needed for various job sites.
