Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, is seeking an Event Planner to join our Firmwide Events Team.

This role is responsible for planning and executing firm-sponsored events, including client and internal programs and webinars. Working closely with Events, Marketing, Business Development, Practice Groups, and Office and Firm Administration teams, the Event Planner provides end-to-end planning, logistical coordination, and on-site execution to ensure events are delivered seamlessly, on brand, and in accordance with firm best practices.

The Event Planner supports a diverse range of events, including receptions, dinners, conferences, seminars, CLE programs, webinars, and social activities. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple projects simultaneously, anticipate needs, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

Event Planning & Execution

  • Serve as the lead planner for assigned events, owning timelines, logistics, and execution from concept through completion.

  • Plan and execute firm-sponsored internal and external events, including client events, conferences, CLE programs, webinars, and social activities.

  • Develop event plans, timelines, and task lists, and clearly communicate expectations and deadlines to stakeholders.

  • Anticipate and adapt to last-minute changes while maintaining a high level of service, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Logistics & Vendor Management

  • Coordinate logistics for in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, including venue sourcing, catering, audiovisual needs, registration, signage, materials, decor, and on-site support.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with venues and vendors during contracting, planning, execution, and post-event stages, liaising with firm counsel as needed.

  • Create and manage event budgets, including tracking expenses and ensuring timely processing of vendor payments in accordance with firm procedures.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, including travel services, to support event logistics such as rooming lists and transportation.

Virtual & Hybrid Events

  • Plan and execute virtual and hybrid events, including webinars, timelines, testing, hosting, creative elements, and post-event reporting.

  • Utilize and support virtual event platforms and tools to deliver client-facing and internal webinars.

On-Site & Post-Event Support

  • Provide on-site coordination for events, including directing venues, vendors, and event staff.

  • Support event setup, execution, and breakdown as required.

  • Lead post-event follow-up, including attendance reporting, budget reconciliation, feedback collection, and debrief materials.

  • Maintain organized event plans, budgets, timelines, and records within Events team systems and databases.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Support firm sponsorships, trade shows, and large internal firm events, including the Partner Meeting.

  • Maintain awareness of event trends, technologies, firm protocols, and best practices.

  • Travel to other firm offices or external locations as needed to support events.

  • Work extended or non-standard hours as required to meet business and event needs.

Who we're looking for

  • A bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of relevant professional event, meeting, or conference planning experience.

  • Experience planning corporate or client-facing events, preferably within a law firm, professional services firm, corporate environment, or agency focused on corporate events.

  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a strong client service orientation.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships in a highly matrixed environment.

  • Sound judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications.

  • Experience with CVENT, OnArrival, ON24, and Webex preferred.

  • Familiarity with CLE requirements is a plus.

For positions in New York, NY, the salary range for this job posting is: $78,500.00 - $125,600.00

For positions in Washington, DC, the salary range for this job posting is: $72,200.00 - $115,000.00

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
