The estimated base salary range for this role is $60,850 to $72,000.00 per year.

Reporting to the Supervisor, AS Project Quality, the AS Custom Order Specialist delivers accurate, compliant, and manufacturable project documentation that translates customer requirements into approved shop drawings, order packages, and system specifications, enabling ontime production and successful installation. By applying technical product expertise, coordinating across CAD, project management, manufacturing, and suppliers, and maintaining disciplined document control and system updates, the role ensures quality standards are met, risks are mitigated, and project execution proceeds efficiently while supporting continuous process improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure jobspecific shop drawings meet Armstrong quality and safety standards and that products are manufacturable and perform as intended in customer applications.
  • Manage critical quality documentation, including drawings, quotes, and technical correspondence.
  • Interpret customer requirements using customer and internal drawings, specifications, product knowledge, and supplier capabilities.
  • Evaluate customer requirements against company product specifications.
  • Maintain compliance with company and organizational standards.
  • Provide technical product expertise to resolve special project issues during the shop drawing phase.
  • Prepare complete document packages, including order forms, details, final order acknowledgements, submittal samples, and manufacturing specifications for customer and supplier use.
  • Build and maintain accurate SAP entries.
  • Update project status in Newforma.
  • Consult with project management on sourcing system components.
  • Collaborate with CAD technicians, project management, and manufacturing to resolve quality, production, and efficiency issues.
  • Identify and implement continuous process improvement opportunities in alignment with management direction.
  • Build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization, as well as with suppliers and customers.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of standard work to support quality objectives.
  • Mentor CAD personnel on Architectural Specialties order processes and product knowledge.
  • Support estimating, CAD drawings, peer reviews, order entry, and other AS activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two or fouryear technical degree in Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, Drafting/Design, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in a technical, manufacturing, architectural products, or projectbased environment
  • Experience reading and interpreting architectural and/or mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Experience preparing or supporting shop drawings, order documentation, and technical submittals
  • Experience working collaboratively with CAD, project management, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve routine quality or production issues
