Distance Learning Support Technician, Darden School of Business

The Darden School of Business has an opportunity for afull-time Distance Learning Support Technicianto join its teamin Charlottesville, VA.This position provides technical support for our live online learning programs including our professional degree program's distance learning classes.

This is an in-person position based in Charlottesville, VA, supporting evening classes with a typical schedule of 1:00-9:00 p.m.

Responsibilities Include:

Web Conferencing:

• Set up equipment and tests for primary and backup studios.

• Record and poston-lineclasses to the learning management system.

• Online class support includes live troubleshooting for remote students and facultyinstructorandtrainingtostudents between class sessions.

• Proactivelyreviewsoftware and hardware to seek ways to continually enhance the student and faculty experience.

• Provide training to faculty inone-on-onesessions.

Audio/Video Production:

• Workin-studiowith staff and faculty to produce asynchronous content, including course materials and tutorials.

• Edit studio recordingsusing AdobeCreative Suite.

IT Support:

• Continuallymonitorand update studio and technician hardware and software.

• Identifytechnologies that can make current infrastructure more efficient or enhance future experiences.

• Gather valuable feedback from our diverse clientele to see howtechnologicalimprovements can offer solutions to current challenges.

Required Education and Experience:

• Associate's degree, or equivalent combination of education, relevant experience, certifications in lieu of degree, and 3+ years relevant experience required. Bachelor'sdegree preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability toset up and troubleshoot professional audio video equipment, including support experience for AV equipment and on-line conferencing software.

• Skilled in troubleshooting Windows/Mac operating systems and mobile platforms.

• Proficient keyboarding skills with an emphasis on speed, accuracy, and attention to detail.

• Excellent communications and customer service skills. The ability to communicate and teach technical features to a non-technical audience is critical.

• Ability to manage multiple tech support conversations simultaneously.

• Ability to quicklylearnand implementnewtechnologicalprocesses and techniques.

• Ability to adeptly provideunique and/or creative solutionsutilizingboth technical abilities as well as project management.

• Ability to work both independentlyandon a team.

• Strong interpersonalrelationshipsand teamwork skills.

• Microsoft suite office programs(Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook with strong knowledge of Excel preferred).

• Working knowledge of learning management systems (Canvas preferred).

• Familiarity of tools for virtual meetings and teaching (Zoom preferred).
