The Resident Care Director - ILU manages the ILU Resident Wellness Nurses, supervises care provided to residents in the Eskaton Village ILU, and is responsible for ensuring the overall success of the health and wellness of independent residents. This includes direct resident care, conferring with other disciplines, referring to appropriate outside healthcare providers, community resources and/or utilizing resource materials as needed. This position participates in case conferences and staff meetings, completes paperwork in a timely manner, and confers and meets with physicians, corporate support staff, and other community persons as needed or directed. The Resident Care Director is also responsible for scheduling shifts and job assignments of ILU Resident Wellness Nurses. This position is responsible for meeting all Federal, State, Local and Eskaton policies and procedures, as well as maintaining ILU resident's health records and medical profiles.

Position Responsibilities include:



  • Responsible for direct resident care assessments for Independent Living residents.
  • Participates in the transfer of residents as appropriate to different levels of care.
  • Monitors progress of Independent Living residents who are hospitalized in order to maintain contact and plan for appropriate placement and care upon return to the Village.
  • Obtains and processes physician orders for Independent Living residents (as needed).
  • Organizes and maintains systems to record resident health care activities within areas of responsibility.
  • Documents resident observations and carries out nursing procedures as ordered (i.e., injections, blood pressure, med orders etc.).
  • Conducts resident assessment in the Independent Living areas for new, annual and/or change in condition.
  • Coordinates health education and wellness programs for the Independent Living residents.
  • Operates the Wellness Office to support the health care concerns and needs of the residents.
  • Assists with arranging medical transportation for residents as needed.
  • Notifies physicians and families of changes in conditions of residents.
  • Responds to ILU resident emergency calls during business hours.
  • Maintains ILU resident health records, medical profiles and medical updates.
  • Participates as member of the AHEC team.
  • Hires, schedules, supervises and evaluates the ILU Wellness Nurses providing care in the Independent Living area.


Qualifications

Education:
Must be a licensed vocational nurse or registered nurse with a current license from the state of California.

Training and Experience:
Previous supervisory experience in a skilled nursing, residential care or assisted living community. Has the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Job Knowledge:
Should have recent experience in the field of gerontological nursing and understands the needs of the elderly.

The final candidate must successfully pass Eskaton's post offer, pre-employment testing which includes a criminal background check, drug test, TB screen test and health screen. All new hires are required to sign an arbitration agreement as a condition of employment.
