Overview

The mission of Navy Federal's Office of Financial Opportunity (OFO) is to drive financial opportunity for all of the credit union's members, with a particular focus on military and veteran families. OFO strives to create opportunities for members to achieve financial health, especially those facing the greatest barriers, by providing data-driven insights to inform signature initiatives, products, strategy, and advocacy. Direct report to SVP Financial Opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a Financial Opportunity portfolio on signature products and initiatives, in collaboration with teams and leadership in various Navy Federal business units, including Real Estate Lending
  • Maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders and drive initiatives that promote member financial opportunity
  • Bring expertise on military and underserved segments to inform product design and execution
  • Identify areas across the organization where innovations and improvements for military, veteran and underserved families might be beneficial
  • Drive alignment and collaboration with business units and the Member Strategy Office
  • Bring expertise to inform design, execution, and ensure data-backed decision-making includes financial opportunity priorities and Enterprise Strategy execution
  • Support the SVP Financial Opportunity in delivering responsibility/accountability for Navy Federal's Financial Opportunity strategy and initiatives
  • Be a thought leader on creative and flexible solutions for products and financial services by identifying innovative technologies and analytical tools, relevant risks, and risk mitigation that can expand Navy Federal's provision of banking services to military, veteran and underserved populations
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the SVP Financial Opportunity and other senior leadership regarding opportunities to expand and meet the needs of military and veteran communities
  • Prepare materials and assist the SVP Financial Opportunity with providing reports to Navy Federal's executive team on a regular basis to update them on the status of Navy Federal's financial opportunity initiatives
  • Build and foster relationships with business unit leaders and enable/support business decisions through idea generation, thoughtful planning and execution, and strategic advising
  • Establish credibility throughout Navy Federal as an effective spokesperson and developer of financial solutions for military, veteran and underserved populations
  • Provide positive leadership through teaching, training, employee engagement, mentorship and influencing
  • Drive enterprise change and learning by embracing new, flexible, and agile approaches to improve business performance and member service
  • Develop, iterate, and execute short-term and long-term financial opportunity strategies by leveraging analytics and providing insights into innovative industry practices
  • Leverage data to measure, track, and analyze the effectiveness of financial opportunity initiatives to report on progress and identify opportunities to inspire action, drive outcomes, and reinforce accountability throughout the organization
  • Supervise and develop a small program team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business, finance, economics, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Significant experience in understanding management priorities and vision regarding how data can be used to inform and drive key business decisions
  • Significant Experience in implementing strategic initiatives to support organizational objectives
  • Experience developing and implementing financial services products or solutions, preferably in the mortgage industry
  • Strong knowledge of - and interest in - financial inclusion, affordable housing, and digital financial services, including current trends and future innovations
  • Significant experience in demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative taking, decision-making, and creativity in solving business problems
  • Extensive experience in driving change management and influencing organizational culture and values, particularly through partnerships and collaboration with other business partners
  • Extensive experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment
  • Advanced experience in stakeholder management as well as leading cross functional teams in complex environments
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization while maintaining cultural awareness and flexibility
  • Significant experience in influencing and building relationships within all levels of an organization
  • Expert skill in results-oriented leadership in a challenging environment
  • Expert verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to produce meaningful metrics that drive and/or demonstrate ongoing improvements

  • Advanced knowledge of credit union or mortgage banking operations

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
