The role:

Entegris is seeking a Senior Engineer, Materials Quality Engineering for our Advanced Purity Systems business in Billerica, MA! In this role, you will own incoming raw material quality performance for assigned suppliers and commodities, assess supplier performance, and manage supplier quality risk by evaluating quality systems and driving alignment to the Entegris Way.

This role applies structured problem-solving and statistical analysis to identify risk, drive corrective action, and support manufacturing stability through collaboration with cross-functional teams. You will partner with Manufacturing, Process, and Quality teams to improve understanding of raw material interactions and process impacts. The role operates with limited day-to-day direction and requires professional judgment within established quality systems, procedures, and escalation frameworks. You will also support continuous improvement and variation reduction initiatives with critical and strategic suppliers.

What you'll do:

  • Manage incoming raw material quality.

  • Assess adequacy of root cause, containment, and corrective actions prior to closure

  • Escalate systemic or high-risk issues with data-supported recommendations

  • Act as the quality point of contact for assigned supplier changes, assessing potential material, process, and quality risk

  • Partner with Engineering and Procurement to evaluate change impact and determine required qualification or validation activities

  • Drive continuous improvement for assigned suppliers/commodities, including use of scorecards and audit tools.

  • Proactively identify potential supplier quality problems and opportunities; assesses impacts and risks and proposes potential solutions.

  • Perform regular, proactive SPC trend reviews for raw materials and report out findings and corrective actions.

  • Own technical problem-solving initiatives, including customer complaints and excursion investigations, management of change activities in support of raw material quality/properties.

  • Work closely with category and commodity managers in developing Business Continuity Plans (BCP), qualifying new materials, Suppliers, or Sub-suppliers as needed.

  • Collaborate with suppliers on material design, scaling up, supplier process, and raw material/ product data analysis.

  • Interface directly with internal Engineering teams to define critical raw material specifications and communicate them to suppliers for agreement and compliance.

What we seek:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline)

  • Typically, 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, supplier quality, or materials-related quality engineering

  • Experience working with raw materials, supplier performance, or quality management and auditing in a manufacturing /fab

  • Experience with data analysis, statistical analysis (Minitab, JMP) and structured problem-solving methods (8D, RCA, Apollo experience a plus).

  • Understanding of manufacturing unit operations across the supply chain and the relationship between unit operations

  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Strong documentation skills preferred

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • Knowledge of mechanical fabrication and assembly is a plus
