Position: Senior Staff Engineer

Location: Tampa, FL / Orlando, FL (on site)

We are seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to support and lead roadway design efforts on a variety of small- and large-scale infrastructure projects in our Road Group. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex transportation projects while mentoring junior staff, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to project delivery and technical excellence.

As a Senior Staff Engineer, you'll play a key role in developing roadway plans, performing advanced design work, and coordinating with clients and agencies. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and 2+ years of progressive experience in transportation design, particularly with MicroStation and Geopak/OpenRoads.



Responsibilities

    Lead and support the development of roadway geometric design, drainage, and traffic control plans
  • Prepare and review construction documents, plan sets, and specifications for transportation projects
  • Perform complex calculations including horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, and quantities
  • Assist with cost estimates, bid document preparation, and design schedule management
  • Serve as a technical resource for junior engineers; provide guidance and mentorship
  • Coordinate design activities with internal teams, subconsultants, and external agencies
  • Conduct technical reviews to ensure quality control and compliance with local and state standards
  • Support project managers in client coordination, scoping, and proposal development
  • Contribute to transportation studies, alternatives analysis, and engineering reports
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE required)
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in roadway/transportation design
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, Geopak, and/or OpenRoads Designer required
  • Solid knowledge of AASHTO and state DOT roadway design standards
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • EIT required; working toward PE license
