DIRECTOR OF OUTPATIENT SERVICES

Agency Wide

FULL TIME -EXEMPT



As a CCBHC (Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic), Thrive Behavioral Health provides a comprehensive range of high quality mental health and substance use disorder services that are accessible to all members of our community regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.



General Summary: The Director of Outpatient Services will be responsible for the oversight, management, and strategic direction of all outpatient services at Thrive Behavioral Health. This leadership role ensures the delivery of high-quality, effective, and client-focused care in outpatient settings. The Director will lead a multidisciplinary team, collaborate with other leaders, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards while also driving continuous improvement.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Outpatient Services Leadership:

    • Oversee and manage all outpatient mental health and substance use disorder programs to ensure effective delivery of care.
    • Lead the development and implementation of treatment plans for clients, ensuring evidence-based practices are utilized.
    • Monitor service delivery, ensuring that outpatient programs meet the needs of individuals and families while maintaining high standards of care and consumer satisfaction.




* Clinical Oversight & Supervision:





    • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to a diverse team of clinicians, case managers, and clinical support staff.
    • Ensure adherence to clinical best practices, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
    • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and development opportunities for outpatient clinical staff.




* Program Development & Continuous Improvement:



  • Identify opportunities for program enhancement and expansion, integrating new treatment modalities and evidence-based practices.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving client outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate program performance through regular monitoring, data analysis, and feedback from clients and staff.


* Collaboration & Coordination:



  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical teams, community partners, insurance providers, and regulatory bodies such as BHDDH.
  • Coordinate care across outpatient services to ensure continuity of care and appropriate follow-up for clients.
  • Represent outpatient services in strategic planning and organizational meetings, providing insight into service delivery improvements and innovations.


* Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:



  • Ensure all outpatient services are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
  • Oversee the documentation and maintenance of clinical records to meet compliance and confidentiality requirements.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to address potential issues and improve client safety.


* Budgeting & Resource Management:



  • Manage the budget for outpatient services, ensuring effective allocation of resources to achieve program goals.
  • Monitor financial performance, ensuring services are delivered within budget while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities and partnerships to support the growth of outpatient services.


* Staff Development & Retention:



  • Recruit, hire, and retain highly skilled clinical and case management staff for outpatient services.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional growth.
  • Ensure that staff receive necessary training and certifications to maintain high competency in delivering outpatient care.


* Client Advocacy & Engagement:



  • Act as an advocate for clients, ensuring that outpatient services are accessible, culturally competent, and responsive to the needs of the community.
  • Promote and implement person-centered care practices to ensure positive client experiences and outcomes.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Competencies:



  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Active clinical license (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, etc.) required.
  • Dual license in Chemical Dependency and Mental Health preferred.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in behavioral health or social services, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing outpatient services.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health and substance use treatment, evidence-based practices, and regulatory requirements for outpatient care.
  • Proven experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a clinical team.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Experience with budgeting, resource management, and financial oversight.



Certifications, Licenses Requirements:



  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance which meets Rhode Island minimum standards required, or the ability to obtain necessary transportation in order to perform the responsibilities/tasks of the job.
  • Rhode Island Independent Clinical license preferred.
