Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide supervision to assigned staff. Responsible for overall production on assigned shift, ensuring consumers receive prompt and quality service. Incumbent is responsible to identify training needs and provide training to staff. Incumbent is responsible to ensure that customer requirements are met.

  • Associate degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience to select, train, motivate, recognize, supervise, evaluate the performance of staff and ensure operational success.
  • Experience and general understanding of medical equipment in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Experience to perform special job assignments consistent with related duties.
  • Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals at all levels within the organization to secure and/or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, provide clear technical direction, write reports and instructions, and to foster and promote the goals of the organization.
  • Knowledge and use of mathematical calculations, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Skills for accurate calculations of inventory replenishment, weight, units of measure, and package counts are essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of medical/surgical supplies; their applications and suitable substitutions.
  • Skill to maintain concise, accurate, legible, and pertinent documentation and records relating to all aspects of assigned work functions.
  • Knowledge of cost-effective materiel management functions of warehousing, purchasing, distribution methods, supply techniques, processing functions, and product liability is required of this position.
  • Must have knowledge to adjust assignments during staffing shortages and the ability to respond to emergency or disaster situations
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Skill to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge to maintain multiple filing systems, records, and related information.
  • Skills to participates and assist with job related in-service training classes and program.
  • Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to workforce.
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in computerized as well as hard-copy information systems.
  • Knowledge of UC and departmental policies and procedures pertaining to all aspects of business.

Department Overview

The Distribution Department has responsibility for, among its primary functions, the inventory management of medical supplies; patient equipment rentals and tracking; acquisitioning of specialty patient care equipment; par-stocking, supply, and equipment delivery systems. Among primary functions, the Distribution Department is responsible for the maintenance of back-up patient care inventory supplies; rentals, tracking; delivery of equipment, gases, and medical supplies; par stocking and exchange cart programs and audit-ready record keeping.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Employee must be able to work occasional overtime. Must be able to work variable hours to provide staff coverage.
