POSITION SUMMARY

The Physical Fitness Specialist is responsible for providing support to the management and oversight of a contract in the National Capitol Region. Primary responsibilities include administering The Cooper Standard for Law Enforcement Physical Fitness Assessment, managing the overall Physical Fitness Program to include the coaching and mentoring of employees on nutrition and exercise.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Ensure all required testing and qualifications are conducted in accordance with The Cooper Standard for Law Enforcement Physical Fitness Assessment and the contract with the US Government.
  • Mentor employees on nutrition and exercise to support their continued physical fitness and ability to pass The Cooper Standard for Law Enforcement Physical Fitness Assessment.
  • Maintain accurate testing records and enter exhibits into the FPS TAMS system.
  • Scheduling and serve as a physical fitness expert for consultation and research.
  • May be subject to hazards including loud noises, heavy fitness equipment and machines.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
  • Work is performed in various settings and conditions. Physical demands of this position vary from situation to situation.
  • Physical work demands are considered heavy, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently and 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Work is performed onsite. Position is not remote.
  • Degree from an accredited college in exercise science/kinesiology or commensurate work or military experience.
  • CPR/AED certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to convey information, draft correspondence, proofread text and prepare reports professionally and tactfully.
  • Must possess intermediate-level computer skills to include proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of software.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work independently.


  • Must have visual acuity to make general observations of personnel, facilities or equipment.
  • Experience with The Cooper Standard for Law Enforcement Physical Fitness Assessment.
