Overview

We are currently seeking a Utility Coordinator with a minimum of 2-5 years' experience to be part of our Geospatial Division. This position will require to work on-premises at the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) District One office in Schaumburg, IL

The successful candidate must be able to read and interpret IDOT plans, have experience in IDOT plans production, and should be familiar with IDOT plan review and the identification and resolution of roadway/utility conflicts.

Responsibilities

    Utility coordination, review of roadway plans and utility work schedules, utility agreements, and multi-discipline and inter-company coordination.


Qualifications

The Utility Coordinator shall have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Highschool Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience performing utility coordination in accordance with IDOT standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the FDOT plans production process and utility coordination practices,
  • Knowledge of IDOT agreements, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • A strong background and experience in Design Builds would elevate the candidate in the selection process
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills - including technical writing skills and ability to handle one-on-one meetings with utility owners
  • Ideal candidate will have an assertive task-focused attitude

Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer, keyboard and mouse. Use of a telephone headset will allow for virtual communication with team members through Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit for prolonged periods, use hands/fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms, speak and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
