Job Title:Accounting Manager Location:Houston, TX (Hybrid - 4 days in office) Role Highlights: Lead month-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting Manage accounting for prepaids, accruals, fixed assets, asset leasing, and intercompany transactions Drive efficiency through implementation, maintenance, and optimization of financial systems (e.g., AX, D365, OneStream) Supervise, mentor, and develop 2 direct reports Collaborate cross-functionally to improve accounting processes and internal controls Why This Is a Great Opportunity: Exposure to multiple business units and diverse operations High-visibility role with opportunities for leadership growth Stable and resilient organization, even during economic fluctuations Competitive compensation with base salary + annual performance bonus Comprehensive benefits, including wellness programs, retirement plans, paid leave, and educational assistance A Day in the Life: Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports Analyze financial results, variances, and trends to provide actionable insights Maintain GAAP-compliant documentation and ensure internal control adherence Oversee financial systems, ensuring effective integration, reporting, and continuous improvement Identify automation opportunities to streamline accounting processes Provide coaching, feedback, and career development for accounting staff Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required CPA highly preferred 8+ years of accounting experience, including management or highly technical roles Advanced knowledge of GAAP and internal controls Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365, OneStream, or similar financial systems Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills Excellent communication, leadership, and team management abilities Core Competencies: Collaborative leadership style and process improvement mindset Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong commitment to operational excellence and continuous learning Compensation & Benefits: Competitive base salary + annual bonus Retirement plan with company match Paid time off and holidays Health, dental, and vision insurance Employee development programs Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
