Position Summary

The Subsea Technician is responsible for operating Subsea Tooling, IWOCS and RWOCS Systems, Tensioning and Reel Systems in a safe and efficient manner, and maintaining and repairing all electronic, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems and sub-systems associated with same including component repair, replacement and troubleshooting.

This position will be reporting to the Operations Manager and supporting onshore and offshore projects across the Asia Pacific region.


Duties And Responsibilities

SAFETY

All employees are required to:

  • Participation in the company HSE Observation card, STOP and LSR self-verification programs.
  • Use their SWA (Stop Work Authority) to stop a job they may feel is unsafe, in order to prevent an accident/incident occurring.
  • Work and abide by our 6 lifesaving rules: energy isolation, working at heights, suspended loads, radiation, confined space and pressure testing, and practice the fatality prevention behaviors that are associated with each lifesaving rule.

TECHNICAL:

  • Use available asset and maintenance management systems to log equipment maintenance, current asset locations, and equipment certifications.
  • Understand technical work instructions and engineering drawings, including general assembly, P&ID, Electrical and hydraulic schematics and assembly procedures.
  • Disassemble, inspect, maintain, repair and reassemble all equipment. Troubleshoot, identify and replace defective parts and components.
  • Operate equipment within an assigned scope, safely, competently and to the highest quality standard
  • Perform testing on all equipment, inclusive of function testing, factory acceptance testing and system integration testing.
  • Load and unload equipment and work vans.
  • Clean and remove dirt, grease, waste material and pressure wash equipment.
  • Clean work area, tools and equipment and perform other routine duties associated with day to day operations and equipment and work area upkeep.
  • Participate in the Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives that are operated by Oceaneering, including the reporting of Non conformances (NC) and cost of poor quality (COPQ), and awareness of the Management of Change (MOC) process
  • Assist with all technical data for jobs such as changes to drawings, shematics, OMMs etc. as required for job.
  • Provide support on products and assists in maintenance, repair, installation and commissioning.
  • Interface with client representatives where neccessary.
  • Work as a positive and collaborative team player, when working in team environments.
  • Work independantly on tasks with varying degrees of supervision.
  • Be available for ADHOC onshore scopes if required.
  • Maintain credentials and complete required training on-line in Oceneering's chosen Learning Management System (Sum Total).

PERSONAL:

  • Be motivated to learn different aspect of Oceaneering's subsea products.
  • Assist other Oceaneers within all departments on operations, training and personal development.
  • Completed training competencies as assigned to them, in order to grow their education and experience.

Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED), Technical/Associates degree preferred.
  • 12 months of formal mechanical and hydraulic training and 12 months of formal electrical and electronics training; or combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Passport and any other regionally mandated offshore work requirement documents as appropriate.

DESIRED:

  • Experience in ROV's, subsea tooling and subsea equipment.
  • Experience in working on and maintaining customer equipment.
  • Willingness to work offshore and overseas for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft based products, especially Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidate must be legally eligible to work in Malaysia.
  • Preference for candidates based in, or willing to relocate to, Labuan.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who meet local deployment requirements to support operational efficiency and reduce dependency on externally placed resources.

Additional Information

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is considered OFFSHORE WORK which is characterized as follows:

  • Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.
  • Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • Frequently the humidity is above 90% and noise is over 85 decibels.
  • Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Work surface is stable, height is elevated.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/REQUIREMENTS:
