What You Will Do:
Program Timeframe: Mid-May through mid-August Join GFT, an award-winning architecture, engineering, and construction firm, as a Civil Site Engineering Intern and gain real-world experience supporting impactful infrastructure and site development projects. At GFT, the site/civil design team is dedicated to creating efficient, innovative solutions for site improvements, ensuring a comprehensive design solution. From site planning through design, permitting and construction our site/civil design teams provides design solutions for an array of project types and clients. Explore some of our signature projects.
What you'll be challenged to do: During your internship, you will work alongside a highly collaborative civil engineering team supporting a variety of public and private site development projects. You will receive guidance, supervision, and mentorship from experienced engineers and project managers with your professional growth as the priority. Many of our interns transition into full-time roles upon graduation.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Assist in the design of site improvements, including grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management systems.
- Support preparation of engineering calculations, quantity take-offs, technical reports, and permit submission packages.
- Prepare and modify drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D under the direction of senior engineers.
- Coordinate with internal team members and participate in project meetings and training opportunities.
Education | Experience:
What you'll bring to our firm:
- Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
- Demonstrated interest in civil site design, land development, or infrastructure engineering through applied academic projects, prior internships, or related experiences.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to learn, seek feedback, and engage multiple perspectives when solving problems.
What we prefer you bring:
- Exposure to stormwater management design, drainage analysis, or utility layout through coursework
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $21.00 - $28.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
