Title: Nurse Practitioner (Family or Adult-Gerontology)

Location: Columbus, OH 43223

Duration: 06 Months to Long-Term

Schedule: 08:00 AM to 4:00 PM, 40 Hours/Week

Job Summary:

  • Searching for a Family or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner licensed to work in Ohio with at least one year of working NP experience in a primary care setting or hospital medicine to provide on-site primary care services full-time.
  • The preferred shift is 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., five days a week.
  • The assignment is projected to last approximately 6 months but may be extended based on continued need and mutual good fit.
  • The assignment could lead to consideration for permanent hire.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Monitors progress of and intervenes in the course of chronic illnesses, using Client policies and protocols for guidance.
  • Inoculates or vaccinates against communicable diseases & prescribes medications or administers treatment of acute and chronically ill patients & performs minor surgery as training & competency allows.
  • Performs routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnoses new conditions.
  • Evaluates patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & reviews said consult reports for the recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly.
  • Orders & reviews the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate.
  • With the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), facilitates the completion of medical reclassification & requests for non-formulary medications as necessary.
  • Performs routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled.
  • Examines, diagnoses & treats patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable.
  • Conducts rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO.
  • Writes up medical information gathered during patient interviews according to Client Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols & related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice, documenting all assessments & diagnostic impressions, as well as any other treatment plans & follow-up parameters.
  • Cooperates with CMO medical quality oversight & accept suggestions, redirection, and guidance.


Required Qualifications:

  • Valid NP License for the State of OH.
  • Current BLS/CPR Certification.
  • ANCC Board Certification.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certification.
