General Position Summary:

In accordance with institutional policies and standards, the Systems Administrator is responsible for one or more of the following: administration, configuration, scripting, maintenance, performance, implementation, security and support of various departmental and components of enterprise wide platforms, including the installation and testing of new software, operating systems, related utilities/services, and hardware products as well as the integration of new products and /or software release upgrades into the current environment. Under guidance, this position conducts systems performance evaluations, monitoring, patch management and security evaluations. Within the scope of the job, the role will analyze user needs in various computer environments (including but not limited to mainframe, Windows, and mid-range) and makes recommendations for products and services that meet those needs. This role will contribute to the efficient and cost-effective maintenance of systems environments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

SYSTEMS ANALYSIS/DESIGN (ENVIRONMENT/PLATFORM)

With limited guidance and direction, design simple business, clinical, education, or infrastructure solutions by meeting with customers to observe and understand current processes and the issue related to those processes. Provide written documentation and diagrams of findings to share with the client and other IT colleagues.

COMPETENCIES:

Education:



  • Two years of college or associate's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field is required.
  • Additional experience may be substituted for education.


Knowledge:

* Knowledge of systems and data flow diagrams and other analysis artifacts.

* Understanding of testing and quality assurance processes with entry-level complexity.

* Knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux environments.

* Knowledge in the assigned IT environments.

Skills:

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.

* Ability to read, understand, and create documentation.

* Must demonstrate critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills.

* Ability to execute assigned tasks within established deadlines.

* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

* Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical people

* Writes and communicates clearly and concisely.

* Ability to provide positive and effective customer service.

Work Experience:

* One year related experience assisting with administration, programming, maintenance, performance, implementation, security and support of various departmental and enterprise wide multiple platforms; designs simple business, clinical, education, or infrastructure solutions

DIMENSIONS:

* Scope of role is limited to small projects typically are applications/systems with up to 20 concurrent users.

Outage impact is limited to scope of immediate users and application.

* Works with limited guidance and direction. Once able to demonstrate proficiency, and with receipt of manager approval, may work independently on non-critical responsibilities

PROBLEM SOLVING:

* Solves basic software and hardware prob by using best practices for the environment to ensure system

integrity.

* Completes server level administration problem solving in recoveries by following documented procedures to ensure a stable environment.

* Monitor changes and resolve basic problems requiring entry level technical expertise by responding as they occur, by reviewing all processing and output of the newly implemented solution, and by proactively ensuring the solution works successfully in order to satisfy the customer requirements and to provide a smooth transition to the new solution.

Salary Range: Minimum 27.51/hour - Maximum 48.51/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
