THE POSITION

Are you a reliable, motivated, and detail-focused IT professional eager to apply your information technological skills in a meaningful public service role? The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) is seeking a dedicated Information Technology Technician to join our Montoursville team. In this vital position, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and managing the inventory of Troop F communications equipment, including telephones, radios, and other IT systems. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will serve as the primary liaison between Troop personnel, operations staff, and centralized technical teams on all telecommunications and IT-related matters. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues, or coordinate with higher-level technical support when necessary. Responsibilities include assessing and identifying technology needs for desktop and laptop computers, peripheral equipment, and software applications. You will also analyze and resolve operational issues with portable and handheld devices, as well as mobile (vehicle) radios, determining root causes and coordinating with centralized technical staff or external vendors for service when required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience providing IT support services involving hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance; or
  • One year of experience providing IT support services involving hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance and completion of a one-year apprenticeship in the IT technical support field; or
  • One year of experience as an IT Help Desk Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • An associate degree in an IT field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • You must obtain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
