Partners with the Director - Commercial Litigation & Claims to provide legal advice and counsel on litigation related matters, including supporting the Director on key litigation matters and independently managing other litigation, threats of litigation, and subpoena responses. Works directly with business partners, operates independently on matters within his/her purview, and executes against goals and objectives set by the Director and/or Wendy's, with a primary focus on minimizing or eliminating legal and economic risks.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as primary legal counsel overseeing commercial disputes and litigation, managing assigned matters from inception to conclusion, including budget management, outside counsel management, and management of internal processes such as legal holds, witness interviews, and document collection. Assist Director with management of other key litigation matters and initiatives as needed.
  • Manage and oversee litigation related processes and procedures to ensure consistent processes and protection of Company, including on matters being handled by franchisees' counsel.
  • Manage Company's response to third-party subpoenas for business records, court appearances, and other third-party litigation matters. Advise other business units on litigation and dispute matters, including Risk, Payroll, and HR.
  • Supporting Director or Chief Legal Offier on an "as requested" basis on special projects.


What we expect from you
  • Education: Masters Degree Additional education information (major, etc.): J.D.
  • Law firm and/or in-house attorney experience: 2-4 years
  • Flexible attorney with focused experience in commercial litigation and excellent soft skills, Including a demonstrated a willingness to learn, enthusiasm for being a part of the Company's in-house legal department, and a hard-working and ethical legal partner with a customer service mindset

Expected Work Location (In Office): It is expected that you will primarily perform work at the Wendy's Restaurant Support Center (RSC) (1 Dave Thomas Blvd, Dublin, OH 43017), or at other location(s) as designated by the Company. You are required to work in the office at least 4 days a week. Changes to work location arrangements are subject to managerial approval and business needs. #LI-Onsite

The base pay range for this position is listed below. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors. This range does not include an estimated value for any benefits, bonus, or other incentives that may be applicable based on position. The target annual bonus for this role is 20% of annualized base salary, based on actual company and personal performance.

NOTE: Wendy's benefits, bonus, and other incentives are governed by the applicable legal plans and policies and, where appropriate, may be subject to Board approval an individual award agreement terms. Those documents supersede all other information regarding Wendy's benefits, bonus, and other incentives. Wendy's retains the right to amend or terminate its plans and policies at its sole discretion, in accordance with applicable plans, policies and laws.
